You may also find it difficult to say no or to prioritise your own needs. Perhaps you often put other people first, even when it comes at a cost to you. You may also have a strong inner critic that tells you you are not doing enough, or puts you down when you feel you’ve made a mistake.
These patterns can affect many areas of your life, from how you see yourself to the relationships you have and the choices you make.
I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can explore what you’re going through without fear of criticism. Therapy can be a place to slow down, gain clarity, and feel supported as you navigate your current challenges. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in genuine human connection. Clients have described me as warm, calm, and insightful; I believe in being fully present with you, engaging in natural conversation, and asking thoughtful questions that can help you gain new perspectives and deeper insights. My aim is to build a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel truly heard, understood, and empowered to make changes that feel right for you.
I also believe that our past can continue to influence the way we experience the present, often without us realising it. We can carry old beliefs, emotional patterns, and ideas about ourselves that may once have helped us but no longer serve us.
By bringing these patterns into awareness, we can begin to understand them, challenge them, and create new ways of responding. Over time, this can help you move away from fear and self-doubt and towards greater confidence, self-trust, and freedom to be yourself.
I'm Nikki, a professionally trained and qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering therapy services to both adults and young people.
I am also a qualified Clinical Supervisor and by utilising my background in training and development, I have built a niche supporting student counsellors through their clinical placements. I do this by providing top-up supervision and also personal therapy.
Please note that I work solely online via Zoom.
I work with clients with a range of issues including; stress and anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, trauma and grief.
I am a Person-Centred therapist but like to work in a way that suits the individual and their needs. This may involve looking at the how the issue makes the person feel in the 'here and now' or exploring past experiences that may effect current thinking and behaviour.
I am a person-centred supervisor using the 7-Eyed Model and offer support to counsellors and counsellors-in-training on a one-to-one and group basis. I believe robust supervision is vital for the development of all therapeutic relationships.
By building a safe and supportive space, I can help my supervisees to explore both their needs and the needs of their clients, provide empathetic understanding and also allow them to develop insight and self-awareness for their personal growth.
I have specialist training in grief and loss through my work as a Bereavement Volunteer and Supervisor for Cruse Bereavement Support, providing emotional support to anyone who has experienced loss through the death of a loved one. Additionally, I support counsellors working for charities in the areas of sexual abuse and death by suicide.
Before training as a therapist, I worked in learning and development in local government and the private sector. This experience is something that can be helpful if you are navigating work-related challenges or need supervision for your coaching practice.
More recently I have had a cancer diagnosis and this has allowed me to really experience life from the other side of the lens. I want those going through the same journey to feel really heard and validated.
Finally, I have taught counselling skills at a Further Education College supporting students to gain their introductory qualifications along with Awareness of Mental Health courses which I have found have linked well with my counselling practice.
